Square Enix Starts My Week Right - Announcements and Trailers

Posted By: Melissa - July 28, 2015

Life is Strange got a new installment, Episode 4: Darkroom.  I haven’t had a chance to play it yet  as it just came out today but have been giddily rewatching the trailer.  It isn’t often that I see a game like this, an episodic interactive graphic adventure, that I actually want to play through but the story has me intrigued.  Add time travel to about anything and I’m probably going to play or watch it.  So why not something that is both?  We are looking forward to the final episode to come out, likely around the end of August, so we can play through it all.  Jordan and I admittedly  aren’t particularly patient people and I don’t want to be hooked on a cliffhanger.  It is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.

What a day in Dragon Quest fandom, though somewhat frustrating unless you speak Japanese. During a livestream today, Square Enix officially announced Dragon Quest XI which will be released for Playstation 4, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo NX.  There isn’t too much english translated info out there as of this moment, but rest assured - I will keep you updated on this one.  You can enjoy the video of the PS4 gameplay until we have , check out this video of gameplay from the conference livestream.  Square Enix also announce that Dragon Quest X, an MMORPG, will be released for Playstation 4; originally it was only available on Wii U, 3DS, and PC.  As if this wasn’t all exciting enough, they also let it slip that Dragon Quest X and Dragon Quest XI are “under consideration” as the first games for the Nintendo NX.

Final Fantasy Type-O HD has been announced (here is the trailer!)  for PC release via Steam on August 18th.  Director Hajime Tabata said in a prepared statement that “Developing Final Fantasy Type-0 HD for Steam gave us the opportunity to fully realize our original vision of the game in an enhanced and refined experience exclusively for PC players.”  With all the HD remakes coming in the next year, this is one I’m really excited about.  Final Fantasy Type-O was originally available on PSP only in Japan and is one of the few of the franchise I haven’t played.
